Carolina Llorente

Associate professor of Science Communication and Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) at the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). She is a graduate in Biology from the University of Barcelona, a Master’s Degree and a PhD in Scientific Communication from the UPF and a Master in Information and Knowledge Society (research itinerary) from the Open University of Catalonia.

She is also the assistant director of the Science, Communication and Society Studies Centre of the UPF and the deputy director of the Master’s Degree in Scientific, Medical and Environmental Communication at the UPF- Barcelona School of Management. Her research focuses on citizen participation in science, the perception of researchers on the public and their role in public engagement.

For two years she was an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Hispanic Philology at the University of Barcelona, teaching the Scientific Communication classes of the Expert Communications in Professional Fields subject of the Degree in Communication and Cultural Industries. For three years, Carolina also worked as Communications and Outreach Assistant at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), taking the scientific dissemination section.
