André Brasil

André Brasil

André Brasil is a Brazilian Federal Government employee, working for CAPES – the agency in charge of evaluating research and graduate education in Brazil. He is currently on leave from his regular activities with his agency to pursue a PhD at Leiden University, investigating ways to improve the Brazilian evaluation system, one of the most relevant strategies to guarantee the quality and development of Science & Technology in the country.

The approach for his research is to combine Scientometrics and Public Policy, recognising the effects evaluation has over the Brazilian System of Graduate Education and its scientific production. For that, he works under the advisory of Sarah de Rijcke and Ed Noyons, and counts with a multidisciplinary background, as he holds a masters degree in Public Policy and Development from the Brazilian Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA), specialist’s degrees in both Business Intelligence and Teaching for Higher Education, as well as undergraduate degrees in Marketing Management and in Languages and Literature (Portuguese / Spanish).
