Dr. René Wintjes is senior research fellow at UNU-MERIT since 1998, and coordinates the research theme on economics of innovation. He studied Economic Geography at Nijmegen University. He previously worked at the Economic Institute for Medium and Small Enterprises and the Faculty of Applied Geography and Planning of Utrecht University, where he obtained his PhD.

Norbert Steinhaus holds a diploma in agriculture. He is board member of Wissenschaftsladen Bonn (Bonn Science Shop) since 1990. For more than 20 years he cooperated in international projects on citizen participation in science and technology or responsible research and innovation.

Anestis Amanatidis is a junior researcher at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies at Leiden University involved in several European research projects in the context of (responsible) innovation governance with an interest in understanding how participatory processes account for difference across a range of stakeholders and the ways they are dealt with.

His research interests include Regional Smart Specialization, Public Policy, Science and Technology Policy, Economics of Innovation, and Research Policy.
